We live in an era of bad news. The media narrative around COVID-19 is one of doom and gloom. People are fearful. And many Christians are discouraged.

However, the Bible is clear that God is at work, working out all things according to His good purposes (Eph 1:11).

And so, we want to help Christians – and the world – see the many and varied ways that God is at work. In particular, we want to share the ‘good news’ stories of God working in and through His churches across our great land.

Introducing ‘Good news Saturday’

‘Good news Saturday’ is a new TGCA initiative that seeks to gather and share stories of God’s gracious work among His people, here in Australia.

‘Good news Saturday’ is a new TGCA initiative that seeks to gather and share stories of God’s gracious work among His people, here in Australia.

In a world of bad news, we want people everywhere to see God’s kingdom advancing during COVID-19. We want to spur one another on, lift one another up and glorify God’s name as we share good news of the Good News.

And so, each Saturday – starting with the first Saturday after Easter (18th April), we’ll be publishing a story about how an Aussie church is seeing God at work in their midst.

Churches: we want to hear your story

Churches, we want to hear about how God is at work in you during this challenging season. Be that growing perseverance, sacrificial love, surprising outreach opportunities, revived enthusiasm, or something else. Huge joy or tiny victory.

Each Saturday we’ll be publishing a story about God working in and through an Australian church.

Yes, we realise that for nearly every church, this has been an overwhelming time: the pivot to online ministry has been frustrating and difficult. Anxiety levels have been high. And, uncertainty is the new normal. Yet, our God is at work even in – or especially in – the trials that we face (Jas 1: 2-4).

So if your church has a ‘good news’ story, share it with us.[1] Bring encouragement when it is lacking.

To share your story, please get in touch with TGCA writer Brianna McClean at [email protected]. She’ll work with you to clarify and present your story.

Not sure if you’ve got a ‘good news’ story? Here are some questions which might get you thinking:

  • How have things changed for your church?
  • What is an obstacle (however small!) that you’ve overcome?
  • What is an opportunity that has surprised you or a provision that has encouraged you?

(If you still have questions, just shoot Brianna an email, and she’ll gladly discuss your church’s story).

In sum, we want God to be glorified.

We want Christians to be encouraged.

And we want this dark and hopeless world to see the difference Jesus makes.

This initiative has been made possible by the generous partnership of Christians like you with TGCA, through our COVID-19 Resource Fund. To help us serve more Christians across Australia during this pandemic, please consider supporting us.
