Workshop Details
Old Testament with Gary Millar Preaching the Old Testament can be daunting for all kinds of reasons, but it is also immensely rewarding both for God’s people and the preacher. This workshop will highlight some key strategies which put preaching even the least accessible parts of the Old Testament within reach.
Preaching from the Heart with Murray Capill As preachers we must preach with all our heart. We're not putting on a show or merely delivering a sermon. We're preaching our hearts out because we have message of eternal significance from God for people. How do we preach from the heart, with all our heart? That's what we'll think through in this workshop.
Cultural Engagement with Rory Shiner Preaching looks like a monologue, but all good preaching is actually a dialogue between the speaker and the listener. Much of the impact of preaching lies in the preacher's capacity to anticipate the questions, objections, and obstacles in their audience and to address them persuasively and biblically. In this session we'll be thinking about preaching with an eye to culture—that is, to the "mental furniture" of the people who are hearing us in 21st century Australia.
Evangelistic Preaching with Richard Chin What does evangelistic preaching look like in the normal diet of a church? How does this differ from evangelistic preaching aimed primarily at unbelievers at a mission event? Join us to answer these questions and more as Richard Chin navigates the life of an evangelistic preacher and how this will shape the message, method, and manner of their sermons.
