Our church members had received faithful Bible teaching for years, believed the gospel and wanted their friends to come to Christ. But we felt fearful and inadequate when it came to evangelism. Where do you start? In this article I’d like to share what we did as a church to address this.
It’s striking to me how prolific Christians of previous ages have been, even in times of turmoil or cultural collapse. We write and talk and sing and think our way through challenging times.
Imagine in 2024 thousands of people in our country encountering Jesus. Imagine hundreds of them them being disrupted by him, changed by him, finding life in him. Actually, instead of just imagining it, how about we work and pray together to see it happen?
Parachurches are very prone to mission creep. We add more and more programs, meetings, conference, training days, and social events. Without realising it our programs enter into competition with similar programs already offered by the local church or denominations (or other parachurches). Our slowly expanding offerings squeeze out the time, energy and attention that our members might be able to give elsewhere.
