The Gospel Coalition Australia was formed in 2015 to strengthen the cause of the gospel in Australia. Our goal is to encourage men, women and children across our nation to stand together for the gospel—an increasingly urgent need in our post-Christian age.

Across our nation, reformed evangelicalism seemed fractured and politicized, seeming to punch well below our weight.

While the previous 30 years had seen many hugely encouraging advances, it had generally not brought people together around the gospel (with some notable exceptions, like the remarkable ministry of AFES). Most evangelicals seemed to function in silos, with a lack of trust between cities, theological colleges, denominations, parachurch ministries and even key individual leaders.

Our goal is to encourage men, women and children across our nation to stand together for the gospel—an increasingly urgent need in our post-Christian age.

However, alongside these deep fault lines, new opportunities have opened up to draw people together for the sake of the gospel. This is in part due to the advent of TGC in the US, and the resurgence of reformed Christianity amongst younger evangelicals from across the spectrum.

TGCA is well placed to make the most of these new opportunities.

We were formed both to build new gospel partnerships across Australia, to strengthen existing partnerships, and to promote gospel priorities by ensuring the gospel remains front and centre. Our goal has always been to nurture real gospel partnership between gospel workers on the ground, which, under God, will lead to more gospel ministry across our nation.

TGCA thus ultimately exists to see more people saved, more people discipled, more churches revitalised, more churches planted, and more people sent from Australia to take the gospel to the nations.

But TGCA is not alone in wanting to see this happen.

Many other organisations are also committed to the historic Christian faith and the particular convictions of Reformed Evangelicalism (as expressed in the TGCA Confessional Statement), to our determination to keep the gospel front and centre, and our desire to work together in gospel partnership, that together we might reach Australia for Christ.

Our new ‘Gospel Partnership Across Australia’ page carries a growing list of these partner organisations.

Please pray that God might use TGCA and our partners to help advance the gospel across our nation, and our world.
