It was heartening to see Wes Huff following Paul’s pattern in his recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience. The whole three-hour conversation culminated with the question: “So what do you make of Jesus?”
It has become a well-worn mantra amongst evangelical Christians that the days of public rallies to evangelise the lost are long gone. The future of evangelism is relational. I have been on that bandwagon for decades. But I am not so sure now.
The widespread implementation of hybrid learning has made a much larger proportion of school-leavers think and act like mature-age students. The university campus is not a central ‘third place’ for them; being a student is not central to their identity; they are not necessarily living a ‘university lifestyle’.
As a critical history or a guide for contemporary evangelism, the book is lacking. But as a historical chronicle of an extraordinary time in Australian evangelical history this work is very valuable.
