The work of the gospel and the needs of this city and State are far beyond the resources of any one ministry or church. We need to be working together. The gathering in Melbourne last week was a wonderful expression of this oneness in Jesus and in his mission.
God’s promises are not like the pinkie promises of childhood or the well-intentioned promises of adulthood.
Our hopes for peace lie not in the sacrifice of lives lost on the battlefield, no matter how just the cause, or how brave and selfless the act. Honour is due to all who would lay down their lives for others. But there is only one saviour, and to access his salvation we must come in repentance and faith.
We are not defined by our to-do list or our “done” list, but as unique children of God.

The plummeting cost of cotton or electricity changed the world. What would a plummeting cost of intelligence do to our sense of normality? What happens when we can turn on superintelligence for roughly the same cost that we can turn on a light?
Even when we don’t understand them fully, our feelings are good gifts from our heavenly Father.
I often replay conversations in my mind, wishing I had said things differently. It’s easy to think I’ve failed because someone hasn’t immediately given their life to Jesus. But God has his own timing. I am thankful that God uses our imperfect words.
I suspect “evangelicals can’t make good art” is increasingly becoming a dated discourse. As an example of evangelical art done well, The Jesus Revolution is superb and bodes well for the future.
